Dota 2 Update - MAIN CLIENT - November 4, 2015News (self.DotA2)

A new update has been dispatched for the main client. More info will be edited in as I analyze the patch.

Official Changelog

  • Fixed not being able to watch a single-match series.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Collection tab in the Armory having the correct number of slots.
  • Added previewing sets with the infuser applied to the Tribute treasures.
  • Fixed some memory leaks.
  • Fixed some cases where Lone Druid's Bear was not displaying the disarm state correctly.

  • A bunch of lighting, rendering and environment related console commands are now tagged as cheats.

I think he means that when you get in a match, your hud is automatically switched to default and only lets you change it by re-equipping your hud.

Not just hud. Mega-kill and announcer are also switched.

I can't even re-equip my HUD. I tried resetting the shuffle multiple times, equipping just one. Nothing works

Also console is disabled every time you launch. You have to re-enable the check box on the client every time

    there's a lot of quality of life fixes that wouldn't be bad either. Like bear being able to complete items from stash, or true form updating your stats automatically when you level it.

    Also a bunch of bugs to do with debuffs that apply creep duration instead of hero duration on the bear.

    Strange that the thread doesn't list meepo poof drawing aggro. That shits infuriating in the mid lane. Could be due to the auto attack command issues after poof. But even pump faking it draws aggro

    It doesnt. The Razor stuff is a setting in the settings.

    Those fixed commands required you to use the console.

    Finally a memory leak fix. Dropping to <70 fps despite being aple to run the game at 4k + 144 fps was really annoying.

    That was what I was thinking as well. And you probably have to have to have two 980s or similar to run the game at 4k 144hz constantly.

      They've been "fixing" the memory leaks for a while now. My client still drops below 120fps after a few games.

      Let's hope this update fixed it.

      i can actually press the arrow in the upper left corner now (to switch between game and menu) without the game being stuck for 10 seconds and getting disconnected because of that. SOURCE 2 FIXED IT (altough it also created the bug)

      Isn't this a case of multiple games having different heroes?

      Each time a hero is spawned it is cached into your memory (hence the delay at the end of the picking timer when everyone spams enter battle and forgets that alt enter exists.

      Play 5 games and you have the potential for 50 heroes to be cached.

      I'm running 16gig ddr4 @ 4kMHz and haven't really noticed a drop. But in saying that I never payed much attention. I just cap at 144 so if it's dropping from my max but still above the cap it would go unnoticed.

      i was suffering with constant drops in fps to ~15, really frustrating, then someone told me to make a check on the integrity of files, it really downloaded 100 MB of things and the performance improved to the normal of my pc. this memory leak fix could help too i think.

        I'm often surprised by the number of bugs that make it into the game, lel. But yeah, Valve really does a good game compared to other companies. If this was Riot we would see heroes like Lone Druid being removed from game for a week or two while they try to fix the bug (and then they give up and add him back and hope no one exploits the bug)

        A 'Single Match series' is a Best of One in a tournament. (so, first couple of rounds of the Lower bracket from TI, for example) Given the description, I presume there was a bug (possibly related to other recent series watching changes) that meant you couldn't spectate a game if it was marked as a BO1.

        No, it was only the two chests that are given from the compendium; it cannot be applied to items from the two chests that are purchased separately.

        Since last patch (not this one) I've been getting freezes of 10+ seconds, sometimes causing me to have to hard reboot my pc, maybe this patch has fixed that. Got low prio for the second time in over 2100 hours of playing.

        Maybe your issue is related to Windows Defender or your antivirus software (avast). Google a bit and you'll see many people have the same problem as you and they tried adding the Steam folder on the exceptions list, thus solving the problem.

        I know that I forget that fact sometimes and get just one treant, so I figured I'd remind you that it can happen. It could be a bug though, so if you can reproduce it, you should report it to the dev forums. Or here, if you get lucky and make the front 2-3 pages

        Well, you can check the replay and see whether one tree was in the cast aoe or not.

        I've certainly accidentally cast it on not enough trees and gotten too few treants, though I don't know that I've ever accidentally only gotten one.

        i did record my game at home iinm but at work now. from my experience, every 3-5 sec the game will freeze for .5-1 sec. my ping and fps seems fine.(50+ fps & 60-100ms)

        this will happen from start until the end of the game. sometimes, just sometimes it will magically disappear, then it comes back again after 10-15min if im lucky. i turn off all the setting in video and put everything on low, still the same. i noticed that watching a live match will have this issues too.

        I'm almost 100% positive adding your Steam folder into Windows Defender exceptions will fix this. That's if you're on W10. On W7 and 8 try to locate Microsoft Securety Essentials and do the same.

        When they fix the game freezing up for a few seconds every few minutes, it'll be a miracle. A lot of people I've met playing games have been having the same issue. Sometimes it's during a crucial teamfight 45-50 minutes in, where that little freeze costs one team the game.

        Try excluding the steam folder from windows defender. It apparently worked for a lot of folk; Will check it out myself when I get home.

        What version of windows you running? Had the exact same problem on Windows 10 since release and had to completely disable windows defender to fix it

        Yes, this problem is ludicrous. I keep getting it, 7 seconds every time. On the other hand, it's freaking hilarious when I play custom games and end up hosting: then the freeze happens to everyone in the game at the same time, even time stands still, so no team gets a disadvantage. But people are mighty confused after it ends!

        I tried temporarily disabling MSE a few days ago. Today I tried adding the Steam folder in its exceptions list. Neither made any difference.

        I'd suggest trying a complete reinstall of Dota 2 as a last measure. It's clear it has something to do on the user end since if the game was that fundamentally broken that problem would accure for a lot more people.

        I recently did a "verify integrity of game cache" and it didn't improve. Also, this does happen to a lot of people.

        Not to a lot, no. If it was a lot, this sub would have been filled with complaint threads popping every minute like with any other major problem. Also you could see streamers and studios running the game without issues. It's something on your end and you should figure out what. I'd try reinstalling regardless and also see if any other program might stand in the way. Maybe another anivirus or something.

        I've also tried temporarily shutting down almost all running programmes. I concede that it isn't super frequent, but on the other hand I don't think it's only me.

        If anybody is having this problem on Windows, and willing to spend a little time running a diagnostic tool to help track it down, PM me. The tool we will use is called vtrace: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3059-RTXB-2672

        vtrace requires some technical expertise and time to run it properly and submit a useful report. If you have both, we'd really appreciate some help understanding what this problem is. PM me and I can get you setup.

        Its the other way around actually . You can spectate a game while searching . But if you arent searching for a game , then you watch a game it will say disconnect which is weird as hell as this wasn't the case before this.

        I've just taken a good look. It seems to be fixed and my items are back organized as I had left them.

        Now here's hoping they give us a way to increase the collection size.

        I was really afraid that might've happened to me; that really sucks, I feel you, man; I also spent several hours organizing my items after the collection was implemented. Wish I could help you.

        My only suggestion would be to always export the collection using the console after you move things around, it might have been what saved me and I intended to try and import it back if things had messed up.

          You could re texture or something riki for example so you could stil see him invis I heard, never seen it though so I can't vouch for that, but if it's true something like this could be a fix.

          they get unequipped after EVERY game. no matter if they are in shuffle or you just have one! you always get the basic one

          courier with trail of burning doom gem is still not fixed yet. the colour scheme is not correct for the original red gem. volvo please, this is not the first time this bug happen.

          Have you not heard anything about the axe immortal or something? They're not ready to release it yet. It's obviously connected with something much larger than the item itself, likely new hero release, 6.86, etc. They have explicitly said that they are releasing the axe immortal along with a longform comic.

          Update fixes lots of bugs, "literally nothing".

          If it's a bug that existed before reborn, then it's a 'feature' and doesn't need patching.
