Dota 2 Update - MAIN CLIENT - January 25, 2016News (self.DotA2)

A new update has been dispatched for the main client. More info will be edited in as I analyze the patch.

Official Changelog

  • Fixed a bug where some projectiles cast from units that have not been revealed during the game yet were invisible, for example Mirana's Sacred Arrow fired when contesting the first rune spawns before seeing Mirana.

      I would rather get a solo lane than having support from 2k mmr helping me in lane, if any.

      Seriously, they are more of a burden than help in most time (I'm mostly referring to my 2k mmr friends).

But you'll find a lot of disparity in terms of skill down there, since there's a lot of people that calibrated and then never played ranked, when they decide to play ranked they are way better than the ones that actually play ranked and are still at low mmr

      I got out of 2k pretty quick so I'm not sure about the hell down there. I actually dropped to 2k last time for spamming invoker during sniper era (sorry team).

      In my experience those below 3.5k mmr can't even last hit decently.

      Idk in my experience as long as someone on the other team doesn't snowball games are pretty easy wins, its mostly just time consuming. Then again, I played a lot of unranked where I got better at the game before coming back to ranked after calibration

      Usually I play pos 1 or 2.

      When I am the safelane carry I have always the support that auto-attack the creep, don't deny, don't even try to harras the enemy, don't pull, and don't buy ward really often, they buy the starting ward and then stop for the next 15 minutes

      That's why I either play mid or support before I was above 3.5k MMR. After that, support tends to know what to do, or won't be a burden at the very least.

      Redditors think they get lots of karma for flaming any named bracket, "5ks, what filthy tryhards", "4ks, just can't make it I guess", "3ks, lol those scrubs", "2ks, ahahhaahahaha these people are too funny" and finally "1ks, those guys should be put out of their misery". This is the true cancer of the dota community, reddit community just likes to try to disguise it by flaming twitch chat, which actually probably would have a far nicer community if it wasn't that every dota 2 subreddit user is also spamming twitch chats.

      A. Style points. You need to win while remaining aloof and uncaring.

      B. To me tryhard means you only pick the super OP hero. IE troll/sniper spam, lesh spam, I dono who that is this patch. Now this doesn't really work in any one game since you may very well have always enjoyed a hero somewhat and are just occasionally playing it.

      Drow was my 2nd hero, but I only got accused of try harding with her when picking her during her super OP phase. Haven't been accused of it before or since.

        What i believe is that 1k's are humble, they KNOW they are still learning, there's no way you are 1k and think you are good. But some 3k's think they are good at the game, ego starts quicking in, so they don't want to play support because they are "better than that".

        Dude, I was forced to play with 2 people with 1k and sub2k mmr, my friend (3k) asked me to play support instead. I was wrecking the enemy team but these 2 people fed and slow farmed when we can just easily finish the game early since my hero kinda can do it since I'm ahead. In short, we lost but they still think they're really good and I suck. 3/4 of the team kills are mine and none of them are KS. I still regret that day.

        The reason you are rekting your enemy is because there are anothe 1k and sub 2k mmr in enemy team too.

        Deal with it, you lost to the enemy counterpart of your mmr.

        Apparently, I'm a 4k so rekting 1-2k enemies as a support is pretty easy. I just gave up trying when my teammates became toxic and gave irl threats.

        Well tbh playing as a support when you are the most skilled player in the team, and your skill is equivalent to your mmr, is never a good idea.

        You will rekt your enemy 1k and 2k as support, your enemy 4k carry will rekt your 1k and 2k players. A snowballing support will never win against a snowballing carry.

        Ya i do get what you feel. 1k and 2k players sometimes overestimate themselves and claims that they belong to 4k.

        I always ask my team for another support or at least somebody who isn't a hard carry when I pick support. It's worked once or twice.

        I just claim to be going jungle enigma and force someone else to support, then switch and pick the second after they lock.

        My honest opinion (from experience) is that no supports is better than one support. Less of a toxic team (one support gets all the blame for detection, smoke, and wards, where nobody is at fault if there's no "support" role), and nobody winds up chronically underleveled (2 supports can trade off farming and gain enough assists to matter early, whereas one is just easy food most of the time).

        This is a 2k perspective, sure. But it's consistent experience. If I'm going to be the only support, I won't support. If someone is accepting a position 4 role, I'll gladly play the 5. I just need SOMETHING to help me out. Even if it's the offlane Timbersaw buying smoke for me.

        I'm not sure about 2k level because I would imagine that the carry over there couldn't make use of the space you created, but the solo support in 3k to 4k level isn't that bad (duo support is of course better).

        Win the lane for your carry, and follow him when he snowballed, or take the lane when your carry is taking the jungle. You have to play as a support actively, not passively which is the mistake of most 2k mmr support player.

        I played mostly solo support to 4K+, it does work, you just can only get boots and try to never die unless you die to save your carry.

        That's the thing with being a mainstay solo supp though. Only boots, consumables and and wand for 20mins kinda sucks enjoymentwise. Then still your teammates blame for not putting a ward fucking everywhere

        Solo support is the one engaging actively in trade and combat since lv 1. It's actually fun to be constantly on adrenaline rush.

        In my experience, the carry usually wouldn't blame the support for having no item unless you kept dying.

        Mute your teammate. A good support can solo support and carry the early game just fine (considering your enemy probably will has solo support too). However, listening or responding to the command by the shit player that told you solo support is fine, is plain retarded.

                    It's amazing that something this huge and capable of securing first bloods was not discovered and used prominently by pro teams.
                    I mean, Mirana isn't even a bad support, roamer or core, she can lane anywhere and has a skill that allows her to flash farm. Moonlight Shadow is almost a free Smoke of Deceit substitute/enhancer.
                    If I were the captain on a pro-team, having guaranteed first blood and Mirana on my team's side in a game is great!
